By winning the official competitive bid, Interplan Group (formerly Uniplan Taiwan) was awarded the honor to produce the opening and closing ceremonies of 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade. All other bidders were multinational agencies yet Interplan Group impressed the judges with its strong expertise in organizing similar mega events and having a great international team. Interplan Group has a lot of experience in producing equivalent mega events. On top of that, in 2015 Interplan was certified with the ISO20121 Events Sustainability Management by SGS. In 2009, Interplan gained recognition for hosting the incredibly successful opening and closing ceremonies for the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung. For 2017 Taipei Summer Universiade Interplan will put together a tailored team of international and local talent. The scale of Universiade is equivalent to that of an Olympic event. This will be the first and biggest event that Taiwan has ever hosted in which it hopes of bringing universities, arts and cultural organizations, as well as sports associations together. There will be ample opportunity for the public to participate in the ceremonies as volunteers. Additionally, by combining the use of interactive technology, multimedia, and environmental-friendly designs, this event promises to deliver an experience that is sustainable for the city.
