The 2025 AFECA Convention, held November 5–7 at JIExpo Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia, marked the 20th anniversary of the federation’s founding. During the Gala Dinner, Michael Tu, Chairman of Interplan, was presented with the Outstanding Leader in Stand Contracting Award and inducted into the inaugural AFECA Hall of Leaders—an honor made especially meaningful as part of AFECA’s milestone celebration.

He received this recognition following his nomination by the Taiwan Exhibition & Convention Association (TECA) and selection by an international jury, highlighting Taiwan’s resilience and innovation in Asia’s MICE industry.
Tu began his career in exhibition design and production, later expanding into large-scale event planning, PEO business, and venue management, overseeing Taiwan’s two landmark international venues: the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center and Messe Taoyuan, the largest convention center in Taiwan.
He has led many of Taiwan’s most high-profile events, including the 2009 World Games and the 2017 Taipei Universiade, celebrated for their creativity and global impact. Committed to sustainability and agility, he championed modular booth design and launched Asia’s first 3D Stand Configurator, optimizing exhibitor services across the region.
Beyond his business achievements, Tu fosters future talent and industry knowledge through the bi-monthly publication Event Platform, strengthening the MICE ecosystem and inspiring cross-industry collaboration. For over four decades, Tu has remained a trailblazer, shaping Asia’s MICE industry and nurturing the next generation of leaders.
